MESSAGE FROM CHAIRMAN
Dear Colleagues

On behalf of the Organising Committee, I would like to invite you to the 3rd International Congress on Traditional Medicine and Materia Medica (ICTMMM) which will be held on the 17th to 20th July 2007 at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a world class convention centre with state-of-the-art facilities. The centre is situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Themed “Incorporating Traditional and Complementary Medicine into the National Health Care System: Opportunities and Challenges”, the Congress will highlight the growing importance of traditional medicine in the health care delivery system. It is a great honour for us to be able to host the ICTMMM meeting.
The triennial meetings of the ICTMMM have become a tradition in gathering the best of minds in traditional and complementary medicine from all over the world. We invite not only professionals and scientists in the field such as botanists, biologists, pharmacists, pharmacologists, historians of medicine but also practitioners, consumers and traders of traditional and complementary medicine and other relevant parties to come together to share their experience and expertise with each other in this ever rapidly developing field. This field is becoming increasingly important and relevant to everyone. The 3rd ICTMMM seeks to address the issues in this field of rapid change. Its scientific programme will feature a broad and well-rounded line-up of topics and experts. From country-specific to global issues the congress aims to be a comprehensive platform for all professionals with interest in traditional and complementary medicine.

We welcome you to Malaysia, a country of many contrasts and well-known for its friendliness and hospitality. Whether you like the bright city lights or the beauty of nature, Malaysia has it all. There are countless of beaches to laze on, snorkeling and diving for the more adventurous, many nature reserves to explore. For the shopaholics, Kuala Lumpur has numerous shopping centres to suit all budget. Additionally, dining in Malaysia is a truly gastronomic experience with a staggering variety of foods.

It is my pleasure to extend an invitation to all colleagues with an interest in traditional and complementary medicine to participate in this International Congress. Join us in this invaluable experience by registering as a delegate. We also encourage submissions of abstracts from colleagues who wish to share their new discoveries and developments with all participants. I sincerely hope this congress will benefit all and enhance new dimensions in all areas of traditional medicine and materia medica.

It will be a congress and experience to remember and we look forward to seeing all of you in Kuala Lumpur in July 2007.
